William F. Watts, O.D. Dr. Watts received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Massachusetts College of Optometry in Boston, and continued his studies at the Gesell Institute of Child Development in New York City. He spent his first two years as a practicing Optometrist in the Army, stationed at Reynolds Army Hospital in Oklahoma and the 121st Evac Hospital near Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Watts has two children, Andrew and Sarah, whose families live in Newburyport as well. He also has one granddaughter. Casey is the newest Golden Retriever puppy to live at the Watts household. Always civic minded, Dr. Watts has sung gospel on stage at the Firehouse, has chaired fund raisers for the Custom House Maritime Museum, was chairman of the Board of Deacons at Central Congregational Church, has served on the Board of Trustees at the Firehouse Society for the Development of Arts and Humanities. Currently, he is an active member and former President of the Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury. Dr. Watts service to the Optometric community during his 42+ years in practice includes his time as President of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrist and National Board of Optometry Clinical Examiner. Currently he is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, an Advisory Board member of TLC Laser Vision Center of Massachusetts, and an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member of the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Watts' family love to play in their extensive perennial and shade gardens, which have been featured on the Newburyport garden tour in previous years. When they are not playing in the dirt, they can be found rooting for the Redsox and Patriots. Visiting the New Hampshire White Mountains and Sanibel Island looking for sea-shells are some of their favorites. No Christmas holiday would be complete however, without....not one....not two.....but three fully decorated Christmas trees
