Vision and Eye Health Services
Comprehensive Eye Care:
Much can be told about a person’s overall health through a thorough eye exam. For this reason, our doctors recommend vision and eye health examinations on a yearly basis. We provide full scope eye care for all ages, using the newest advancements, always with a smile.

Emergency Eye Care:
If you have had an accident, injury or sudden vision change on the weekend or after normal office hours, you may call Dr. McDonald at 978-314-9000.

Contact Lenses:
Our doctors are experienced with all the newest contact lens designs for astigmatism, multi-focal, gas-permeable, 1-Day replacement and 30-day extended wear. Individuals who have been unsuccessful with contacts in the past may benefit from the latest contact technology and enjoy glasses free vision. Ever thought about enhancing your eye color for a night out on the town? We offer the newest designs in color enhancing contact lenses.

Pediatrics:
Parents are always curious about when children should get their first full eye health exam. If the eyes and vision appear normal, children should get their first full exam around the age of three. At any age, when you notice a turned eye, squinting, something unusual about the eyes or you just don’t think your children are seeing things correctly, go to an eye doctor as soon as possible. Have your children come meet "Seymour" the dancing dog during their first eye health exam at our Newburyport office.

Laser Vision Correction:
Ever dreamed of reducing your dependence on glasses and contacts? Laser Vision correction may be for you. Our doctors are affiliated with TLC Laser Centers, the leading LASIK provider in the United States, and yes, the same surgeons who did Tiger Woods. Laser Vision consultations are complimentary, so you are welcome to get your questions answered and see if you are a good candidate for laser vision correction. Vision Therapy:
Our office offers vision rehabilitation and therapy programs to strengthen lazy eyes, improve eye turns, depth perception, shift of focus and overall eye coordination. Certain conditions respond very well to specific eye exercise programs designed to strengthen the muscles that move our eyes and focus our vision.

Low Vision Rehabilitation:
People who have suffered permanent vision loss from glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetes do not have to lose their independence. Technology is available to assist them with reading books, newspapers, mail, paying bills, shopping and getting around town. We offer a wide variety of visual aids and magnifying devices designed to assist visually handicapped individuals with day to day living.

Optomap:
Drs. Watts and McDonald are pleased to offer the newest technology in eye health evaluation. The Optomap is a scanning laser ophthalmoscope that generates a detailed map of the entire retina inside your eye. With this retinal map the doctors will be able to more accurately and efficiently screen you for retinal detachments, complications from diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, genetic and pediatric retinal diseases, macula degeneration and retinal melanomas. The Optomap is no more invasive than a camera flash, does not hurt and takes only five minutes of your time. Best of all, it may eliminate your need for dilating eye drops at your visit. Welcome to 21st Century eye care!

In-House Gerber Cober Finishing Lab

State of the Art In-House Finishing Lab:
Our opticians are happy to provide our patients with the newest lens finishing technology from Gerber Coburn. Rick, Martin and Tracy are able to efficiently custom tailor your glasses order in-house to their strict accuracy specifications. This means comfort knowing your presciption order is made 100% accurate without a long turn around time.

Corneal Topographer:
The ability to generate a detailed, 3-D image of your cornea allows our doctors to more accurately fit your contact lenses, improving comfort and visual performance. With this device, the doctors can more thoroughly examine our patients for corneal disease and contact lens complications. Screening our Laser Vision Correction patients for irregular corneas before their surgery is necessary information and help in determining whether laser correction is the right choice.
